Michelle Sauer, daughter of Superior Court Judge Michael Sauer, invited a group of friends and family to indulge in tacos, chili and margaritas at 151 Smith St. It’s the Brooklyn home of Homage, the café/skate shop she’s opening with her boyfriend, Jose Portes, on June 15th. “Once my cousins showed up and made sure everyone knew my Dad sentenced Paris to jail, it was all anyone wanted to talk about,” she says angrily punching a slab of turkey bacon, “the Hiltons are trying to trash our good name.”
The source of Sauer’s ire was a New York Post report that Kathy Hilton, mother of the condemned, insinuated that Judge Sauer was some kind of publicity hound. The Post stated that Kathy mockingly asked Judge Sauer, “May I have your autograph?” as his verdict was rendered, later calling the trial a complete waste of taxpayer money.
“The Hiltons certainly don’t know my Father,” Michelle says, “I’d like Paris to say it to my face when she gets out.” And it isn’t just a case of blood being thicker than designer water, either. Attorney Mark Rafferty told the Los Angeles Times that he has argued hundreds of cases in front of Judge Sauer and says he is “hardworking” and “not the kind of guy who likes the limelight.”
The erudite Judge Sauer referenced Watergate and Shakespeare’s Henry V during the trial, neither of which cousins Patrick and Daniel Sauer believe Paris has ever heard of. “We have 45 days of training ahead of us,” says Daniel, head chef at the The Outermost Inn on Martha’s Vineyard, "You better believe, Michelle will be ready for the 'War Against the Whore.'”
New York City-based writer Patrick piped in, adding, “Paris’ lawyer Howard Weitzman said his client has unique needs and issues, when Michelle gets through with her all she’s going to need is a good plastic surgeon.”
Michelle, a former design director at Zoo York and Burton, invites fans of all that is decent and right to stop by Homage on June 15 for a cup of coffee, a pumpkin cranberry walnut muffin and the chance to blissfully skate away after punching Paris in her clown face. Justice, along with breakfast, will be served.
“We’ll be here,” says Jose, “and if Tinkerbell shows, our dog Boss will be waiting with a surprise of his own."
The Sauers await the Hiltons response.
